Wisconsin Logging is an integrated reading/language arts and social studies unit in fourth grade. We use
many print and online resources to learn about the lumberjacks and the logging industry during the late 1800's and early 1900's. We also read a documentary novel written by Janie Lynn Panagopoulos, Journey Back to Lumberjack Camp. Panagopoulos's novel is about a boy named Gus, who travels back in time to a Lumberjack Camp. The story is full of adventure and historical detail that make it another favorite of fourth graders and their teachers.
